[ [link removed] ]The court ruling that shut down IVF clinics earlier this year used the
same arguments that The Guardian exposed Josh Hawley for pioneering- and
the Alliance Defending Freedom called it a 'tremendous victory.' Here's
why it matters: What is the alliance defending freedom? The ADF is a group
of activitst lawyers that's paid Hawley thousands. His wife is also senior
counsel at ADF. ADF has successfully won key SCOTUS cases with serious
impact on our personal freedoms. June 2022: Dobbs v. Jackson overturned
Roe v. Wade. Missouri was the first state to enact a total abortion ban.
And now: the ADF leads the case to ban the most commonly used abortion
pill nationwide. Hawley's wife led both of the cases. Hawley used his
Senate office to support his wife through amicus briefs and votes to
confirm judges presiding over both cases. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, who
ruled in ADF's favor in the mifepristone case, previously worked for an
organization with direct financial ties to ADF. Kacsmaryk was a donor to
Hawley's campaign before Hawley voted to confirm him to the court- despite
bipartisan opposition over his Big Brother views on bodily autonomy. We
can't afford another six years of Josh Hawley's crusade against
reproductive freedom.
