Dear Friend,

The Drug Policy Alliance relies on suporters like you to stand up for change and demand policies grounded in science, compassion, health, and human rights.

Recently, I wrote to you about a dire situation, where President Trump is planning to divert vital personal protective equipment (PPE) away from healthcare workers and funnel them to efforts to ramp up the international drug war. Together, we need to let Trump know that escalating this disastrous drug war in the middle of a global pandemic is not the answer.

Instead of doubling down on the war on drugs, we need to focus on rebuilding communities and fostering the health and safety of all people. This is true at all times, but especially during a pandemic.

It is up to us to convince our elected officials to prioritize health-focused solutions over increased criminalization. Four of the first five people in federal prisons to die of COVID-19 were serving time for drug charges. And more will follow because of the federal government's inaction to reduce the number of people behind bars and ensure the health and wellness of those incarcerated.

Help us stop Trump from escalating the international drug war and depriving healthcare workers of badly needed resources. Become a Reformer today by signing up for a monthly gift.

Dependable support from monthly donors is essential to the work we do and to the future of drug policy reform. Any amount you can give will help us break the cycle in which criminalization is the default response to drug use, rather than health-focused solutions that can save lives

Thank you for standing with us.
