John,
This week I was proud to receive my first union endorsement from the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. As the only union member running in this race, it is a real honor to earn the support of my labor brothers and sisters from BRS.
Side Note: Clarkston, where I was Mayor for the last 6 years, was originally an old railroad town on the outskirts of Atlanta, founded in 1882. Our 1.4 square mile town has a railroad running right through the middle. So you can imagine that the safety of railroad crossings is paramount to the safety of our residents and visitors. I'm proud of the work we've done in Clarkston to improve pedestrian railway crossings.
Here is the statement:
The Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS) has noted that you are a friend of labor and understand what hard work and a secure future for the American middle class is all about. The BRS is proud to endorse you as a Democratic candidate for DeKalb Super 6 Commissioner. Georgia is a state in which the BRS has many proud, hard-working union members, and we believe you will continue to fight for their best interest and for all of labor. We understand your strong sense of solidarity and belief in the core mission of labor to provide better jobs for all. As we continue to fight daily for a strong working-class in this country, we appreciate having candidates like you in our corner.
John, I'm proud to be a union member. I'm proud to support labor. I'm proud to stand up and speak out for working families in our community. I hope you will stand with me in support of unions.
Without Unions where would our country be? There would be no weekends, children would still work in factories, wages would be lower, fewer families would have health insurance coverage, and we might not have social security or unemployment insurance. We need unions. We need to strengthen collective bargaining in our county, state and nation.
Will you donate to help elect a pro-working family union member to local office here in Georgia? We need a new generation of progressive leaders at all levels of office, willing to fight for working people! [link removed]
Thank you for supporting our campaign to bring a voice for working families into the halls of power. Together we will create a society that values work, supports working families, honors their sacrifice, and pays it forward to the next generation.

In solidarity,
Ted Terry, Fmr Clarkston Mayor, Candidate for DeKalb Super 6 Commissioner
(SEIU Member, 2002-2005, AFSCME Member 2015 - Present)
