NEW YORK, NY – On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, starting at 1:00 p.m. (EDT), Representatives Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and Ritchie Torres (NY-15) will hold a press conference to announce $156 Million federal funding secured to ensure ADA accessibility at five transit stations located in Manhattan and the Bronx.

The New York State congressional delegation played a critical role in advocating for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the creation on this new discretionary program dedicated to ensuring ADA accessibility. Funding will be used to upgrade subway stations, making them fully ADA-accessible, allowing safe and convenient travel to and through the stations. Additionally, modernization work will include installing elevators, updating platforms to reduce gaps, adding tactile platform edge warning strips, making stairway repairs, improving signage, and enhancing visual and audio systems.
