Countries in the Horn of Africa — Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia — are
facing their worst hunger crisis in recent years. More than 36 million
people in the region are food insecure.

Now, extreme flooding in Kenya in recent weeks has only exacerbated the
situation, putting more families in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

The effects of climate change are taking a heavy toll on
the Horn of Africa. Severe floods in Kenya have swept away thousands of
homes and cars, leaving families displaced, crops destroyed, and children
exposed to preventable diseases. Meanwhile, Somalia and Ethiopia are
experiencing unprecedented levels of hunger due to a recent drought.

Across the Horn of Africa, more than 36 million people are facing the
worst hunger they’ve ever experienced due to a severe and prolonged
drought season that started in 2020. Now, recent rainfall has brought new
challenges due to extreme floods. The devastating impacts are staggering.

Climate change is devastating communities across the Horn
of Africa. For people who are experiencing severe hunger or who have been
displaced due to conflict and natural disasters, Mercy Corps is bringing
immediate assistance to help them survive and recover.

Your commitment to our work at Mercy Corps is vital, and it allows us to
have all the resources needed to effectively provide food assistance and
shelter for displaced families while helping to build climate-resilient
