Friends,
The impact of these hospital closures is deeply felt in our communities. When our leaders prioritize for-profit healthcare, private insurers fail to pay, rural facilities don't make money, shut down, and leave.
In the past year, we've witnessed the closure of two vital facilities in Northern Michigan and the UP, or hospitals reporting losses and not fairly compensating nurses - which could cause a mass-exodus of healthcare workers.
A single-payer system that fully covers care for every patient would be a game-changer.
It's time to end the havoc wreaked by private insurance and Medicare Advantage plans (not Medicare), which undermine our medical care system.
We need a publicly financed, non-profit national health insurance program that fully covers medical care for every American citizen, and we need it now.
With adequate pay, it will help rural clinics survive.
To continue our mission advocating for universal care, I want to take our voices to US Congress. To get there, to continue to fight for your freedoms, families, and futures, my campaign relies solely on grassroots contributions from the generosity of donors like you.
Thank you.
