Back in March, I wrote to you about Katrina Shankland, who is running for Congress in Wisconsin. Katrina is an up-and-coming young leader with an impressive track record in Wisconsin’s State Assembly—and she’s ready to lead the fight to protect and expand Social Security.

It’s not common for Social Security Works PAC to endorse during a primary. But we simply couldn’t ignore Katrina’s passionate commitment to fighting for seniors and our earned benefits.

If Katrina wins her primary, she’ll face far-right Republican Derrick Van Orden. He sponsored a bill that would make it unconstitutional for Social Security to pay its promised benefits!

According to the Alliance for Retired Americans, Van Orden’s rating on seniors’ issues in his first year in Congress was 10%—which means he voted WRONG for Wisconsin’s seniors 9 out of 10 times.

Shankland, on the other hand, supports protecting and expanding Social Security and Medicare—and keeping them strong for decades to come by requiring the wealthy to pay their fair share.

This is shaping up to be one of the most competitive House races in the country, and Katrina needs our support!
