John,
I hope you and your loved ones are as well as can be. It’s hard to believe that we’re nearly halfway through 2024!
Much of Equality Virginia’s work at the start of each year is focused on the Virginia General Assembly. We share info about emerging bills, create and send out action forms to make it easier to connect with your lawmakers on the issues you care about, and - over the past two years - host multiple lobby days for advocates to come together in Richmond to build relationships, learn more about the legislative process, and share their stories with lawmakers in person.
As we quickly approach Pride month - a time for joy, community, and celebration as we strive for liberation - we’d like to reflect on our collective wins over the past few months. In this email, you will find our Lobby Day Impact Report, which offers a recap into what our Lobby Days were like this year - including how many advocates attended, the bills we fought for and against, our powerful and dynamic partners, feedback from our attendees, and what we’re thinking about as we prepare for next year. We’re also thrilled to announce the launch of Equality Virginia’s new, interactive 2024 Legislative Scorecard ! Our scorecard is a one-stop-shop for all things General Assembly, and provides a detailed look at each legislator’s positions on Equality Virginia’s key bills from this year’s session. Scroll the landing page to view each lawmaker’s overall score based on their votes on our priority bills this year, and click on a lawmaker to view a full list of their voting decisions at every step in each bill’s journey through the General Assembly. To be clear, we’ve indicated our support or opposition for each bill motion (i.e.- to table/kill or advance/pass) and each lawmaker’s vote on that motion - not for each bill overall. Each legislator has also received a lifetime score - a new feature for our scorecard this year that reflects a legislator’s overall voting record on our issues over their past 3 years in office. Click the button below to visit the 2024 Legislative Scorecard on our webpage!

It’s important to note that none of this work would have been possible without your contributions to the fight for LGBTQ+ liberation. If you attended a Lobby Day, if you emailed your lawmakers, if you talked to your loved ones and neighbors about the issues facing LGBTQ+ Virginians, or if you lived joyfully and unapologetically as your true self - all of these acts of resistance are necessary to move things forward.
I hope you'll take a moment to chip in $10, whether one-time or on a monthly basis, to support our ongoing Advocacy programming such as Lobby Days (we're already gearing up for 2025) and our interactive Legislative Scorecard.
Thank you for your endless grit, perseverance, and support - of our organization and of each other - as we work together for a better future for all Virginians.
