*Supporting
Resources for Pennsylvanians with Alzheimer's *

Earlier this month,
I met with advocates from the Alzheimer's Association of Greater

resources to Pennsylvanians suffering with dementia and
Alzheimer's.

*Leadership
Pittsburgh*

Thank you to the fellows of Leadership Pittsburgh Inc.
for meeting with me this month to discuss education, transportation,
and childcare needs here in the Pittsburgh region.

I'm proud to
work with these local leaders to ensure that Allegheny County has
fully and fairly funded schools; quality, affordable childcare; and
public transit that works for residents!

*Making
Pittsburgh a Leader in Green Energy Jobs*

On May 16, I joined
Sustainable Pittsburgh, The Energy Efficiency Alliance, and the
Regional Clean Energy Jobs Coalition to talk about the future Clean
Energy Center in Homewood.

This facility will provide job training
for the next generation of green home and commercial construction
workers, making Allegheny County a leader in family-sustaining, green
jobs. Thank you to everyone who participated at the event!

*Playing
Around at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh*

You don't have to be
a kid to enjoy the wonders of the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh! The
museum was voted #2 Best Children's Museum in USA Today's 2024
Readers' Choice poll. We're so lucky to have this asset in our
region!

Jessica recommends checking out the Gymlacium in the
MuseumLab. Take off your shoes and climb into artist Manca Ahlin's
interactive art piece. She transformed the former Carnegie Library
steel bookshelves into a three-story woven rope gym where you can
climb, slide, swing, and chill!

Go to their website to see current
exhibits and different admission
discounts!

*Peabody WWI Memorial Restoration Ribbon
Cutting!*

Calling all history buffs! Come out on Thursday, May 30th
from 11:00 am -12:30 pm to see the unveiling of the beautifully
restored 1924 Peabody WWI Memorial on its 100th birthday at the Barack
Obama Academy of International Studies in Pittsburgh's East Liberty
neighborhood.

The more than 6-foot-tall bronze statue was created
by Frank Vittor for the students of Peabody High School (now Obama
Academy) who served in WWI. It is the most significant war memorial or
piece of public art at any PPS school. The statue includes Columbia,
the personification of America; a mother and son; a returned soldier
about to be crowned with laurels; the allegorical figure of Victory
clutching a wreath; and a depiction of Immortality.

Thanks to
Preservation Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh's Historic Review Commission,
funds were raised to restore the statue and create a new school quad
and outdoor classroom surrounding the memorial. Hope to see you
there!
