🙊I know, I know. I really, really do. If you don’t stare at a solar eclipse, you won’t go blind. But sometimes, the things that shouldn't get any of your attention are just too tempting to ignore. Determining whether saying something or saying nothing is a matter of weighing which load will be better for your soul. So, speaking of loads, I have to talk about Harrison Butker. Cuz, wowza, did he ever shank that to the right.

🌪️What the …!? Everlovingheck just happened in the Republic of Kansas? Out there on the sparsely populated Great Plains, where the wind is already bad enough on any given day, there appeared a kicker who took an opportunity to spread good but chose bluster & evil. Ah, a timeless tale. I won’t go into all the fascist things Harrison Butker said during his commencement speech at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS, because we’ve heard enough. But I have just a few things to say about his tornado breath of a speech where he spewed salt & rage like every other overly-emotional bro with small kick energy & an ego made of glass. What to do with these little men who have decided they are tools of a god to be used to bash everyone who isn’t them into submission. maga boys like Butker want only the homogeneity of themselves ruling America. Talk about homos.
🦵I can’t take credit for the term small kick energy. But I am the first to say this: dude told the world that a woman’s only real job is to have babies & clean the houses of men like him, whose vocation, given to him by his god, is one that requires other vocation-given men to kneel in front of him & hold his balls. I don’t make the rules here, but I’m pretty sure there is no god who gives a corn-ed f%ck about NFL kickers. 🤷🏽 A quick word on body shaming: the play on the phrase small dick energy feeds into the idea that the value of penis-havers is placed on the size of said tissue mass. How absurd. That being said, I use the term here as a statement against those who compensate for their insecurities with over-the-top bravado & toxic masculinity & believe that having their reproductive organs fully on the outside of their bodies is somehow the definition of superiority.
👴🏻Unfortunately the small kick energy of these Misogyny Rules moments pop up from the depths on a regular basis. This time around it started inflating itself as a reaction to Audacity of Hope & I’m With Her . The playbook this time around is Project 2025, & they’re going for a full-on white male supremacy government coup. Folx, we are perilously close to these hysterical men taking away every right & freedom marginalized communities have fought & died for. Don’t think you’re exempt white women: these maga monsters are wielding outsized power with undersized coping skills, & things are fraught with danger. It's not so unusual. Once upon a time, a carrier had many fleas & those fleas had way more power than they were meant to have, spreading the Black Death. Centuries later, we have our own bloated host with its minions spreading the Orange Plague, ad nauseam.
🧏🏻 I’ve heard a surprising amount of people say that Harrison Butker has every right to say what he wants, where he wants, & when he wants. They say, what’s the big deal, First Amendment, freedom of religion , blah blah blah . It’s wild that people still don’t see the connection. When we stand by as others say that a god wants certain genders caged or that certain kinds of people are deadly sins & degenerates — that always has & always will give insecure men an excuse to choose violence. It’s that "history repeating itself" thing that society just keeps ignoring. Can we not get it wrong, again? This terrible repetition will continue until we all decide to participate in fighting against deadly ideologies like that of Harrison Butker’s — who spells his religion with 3 Ks.
📣So, one more time for everyone in the cheap seats: Whatever the field is, whatever someone wants to do with their life, that choice belongs to them & to them alone. For the love of all, do not let the fragility of men run roughshod over common sense, freedom, patriotism, & democracy. Don’t let them redefine love as hate, fear as courage, & bullying as leadership.
