Hi John.

I’ve been hearing from many Kansans who are struggling with high grocery prices.

I understand how concerning that can be. I was raised by a single mom and I’m still paying off my student loans. There’s certainly a lot more work to do to make life more affordable. However, today, I am pleased to share some good news.

Major grocery retailers in the Kansas Third District are lowering their prices. This is an important step in the right direction that builds on progress we’re making in other areas of our economy.

I’m focused on concrete and bipartisan solutions to make life more affordable.

In 2023, we saw the highest percentage of women in the workforce since 1948. Our economy also created more than 15 million jobs since 2020.

But it’s clear that there’s still a lot of work to do to lower costs and make life more affordable. I know the cost of groceries especially has been a major concern for many families.

While there’s certainly a lot more that has to be done, this is a welcome step in the right direction. To keep it up, I’m working with both parties to support a stronger agricultural supply chain for Kansas farmers and ranchers.

A stronger supply chain helps our agricultural producers grow their crops more efficiently, deliver their goods less expensively, and protect against costly disasters – and ultimately can help lower prices for families at the grocery store.

I’m also pushing to increase competition and prevent price gouging. Fair competition gives families more choices to shop for the best bargains and stops big corporations from taking advantage of folks. And I’m pushing to lower other everyday costs, including by voting to let Medicare cap insulin prices at $35 a month and negotiate for lower prescription drug prices.

As I keep pushing for more progress, please know that my team and I are here to help you however we can >>

Please visit davids.house.gov/lowercosts to find resources that may help lower your family’s costs. That includes help for groceries, gas, housing, health care, and more.
