I turn 38 this month. My dad asked me what my wish was for this year. While I may have said some materialist thing like a pair of new shoes or a haircut, my real wish is that we remember the lessons we have learned the hard way through this COVID-19 pandemic.

My wish is that we create stronger protections for workers, for families, for immigrants, for EVERYONE.

That we fix our society so that millions will not lose their health coverage when laid off, fired, or quit.

That we remember what it means to be prepared and proactive, not reactionary.

That we create a system where everyone can survive three to four months or longer if unable to work.

That the relief from our federal government is directed to the people first, not to corporations.
