For the past seven months, people in Gaza have lived each day in terror and grief. The health system is in a state of total collapse and basic necessities such as fuel, water, and food are nearly impossible to obtain.
But as any woman can attest, periods do not stop while these women and girls navigate the life-threatening dangers of emergencies like the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
We deliver lifesaving care in the most dangerous, isolated, and complex crises in the form of Dignity Kits so that even in emergencies, women and girls can manage their periods with dignity. UNFPA Dignity Kits include menstrual pads, underwear, soap, laundry detergent, and other menstrual hygiene supplies that are essential, but inaccessible to many women and girls right now.
UNFPA has been on the ground in Gaza since 1986 and from the moment that conflict escalated in October, we began distributing Dignity Kits. Since then, UNFPA has distributed more than 134,000 Dignity Kits to women and girls throughout the violence-torn region thanks to your generous gifts.
Since today is Menstrual Hygiene Day, we’re asking you to sponsor Dignity Kits and ensure that even in the darkest of times, women and girls can manage their periods.
Make a gift to deliver Dignity Kits to those suffering in Gaza and around the world:
Each Dignity Kit costs only $15 to create, but the contents of each kit are priceless to the recipients.
“May God bless you, because this is the first time I have received such a package since the day we were displaced,” said one recipient of a UNFPA Dignity Kit in Rafah.
“All the items in the bag are not available in the first place, and even if they are, their prices are very expensive,” said another.
“All the items in the bag are crucial, and we truly need them,” added a third.
Deliver the gift of dignity today to women and girls in desperate need by sponsoring Dignity Kits today. Your donation will go directly to delivering reproductive healthcare like Dignity Kits and other essential care. >>
We condemn the violence in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel, and echo the UN Secretary-General’s call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages by Hamas. The suffering must end and peace must prevail.
Thank you for being there for women and girls.
