It’s Pavitra, Lauren’s senior advisor, here to give you a status update on the race to reclaim the House majority.

I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news but right now, it’s not looking good for Democrats. Take a look at this headline:

The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), working with House Speaker Mike Johnson, just reserved $141 million for ads in key races — that’s $20 million more than in 2022 and more than they’ve spent than any previous election cycle.

What does this mean for us? We face a well-funded and strategic opponent targeting 30 critical races that could decide control of Congress.

This massive investment in GOP ads makes it harder for Democrats to win the House majority, allowing Republicans to focus their misinformation campaigns and attack ads on the most critical races.

To compete and make sure our message reaches every voter, we need significant resources. This includes grassroots support from our team, especially from you!

Together, we’ve proven time and again that our grassroots team can make a clear impact on the outcomes of competitive races:

2018: We helped flip the House when Lauren defeated a four-term Republican incumbent, becoming the youngest black woman ever elected to congress.

2020: Thanks to folks like you, our campaign won one of the closest races in the nation by a margin of just 5,374, helping to secure Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress.

2022: As a result of Illinois’ redistricting process, 70% of voters in IL-14 were brand new and had never seen Lauren’s name on their ballots before. Once again this incredible team worked together to overcome the odds and elect Lauren to a third term, where she once again made history as the first Black woman to be elected to House Democratic Leadership.

When I joined Lauren’s campaign, I was blown away by these statistics and deeply impressed by the dedication, determination and grit of this team. I’m proud to be a part of it!

John, that’s why I am coming to you with this news today. I know what this team can do and I’m hoping we continue leading the way as an example for grassroots teams everywhere. Let’s show Republicans what we’ve got.
