In a few months, 350 U.S. will be launching an incredible in-person Campaigns Academy for climate activists.
Before we begin looking at venues and promoting the Campaign Academy, we want to see how big we can go. Right now, we have secured enough budget to convene 25 climate advocates to meet in person with a team of experts and be coached on how to run successful campaigns targeting their utility companies.
But if we can raise an additional $10,000, we could bring 10 more climate activists to the event from around the country. So if you're in a position to provide support, can you help us hit this goal and become a founding donor of our very first Campaigns Academy today?
Utility companies play a massive role in exacerbating the climate crisis. Motivated by profits, they use our hard-earned money to invest in unreliable, expensive energy sources that burn down our planet — rather than investing in cheap, clean and just renewable energy that is better for both people and the planet.
So this year, we're focusing on demanding that utility companies change their destructive ways.
But there are literally HUNDREDS of utility companies in the U.S., John, and we need to activate our movement around the country so we can target them all.
That's why we want to train climate activists from around the country to run their own local campaigns for energy justice. Because as their customers, communities hold immense power over utility companies. And if we work together, we can achieve so much more.
The more climate activists we can bring to this event, the sooner we can create a wave of utility companies divesting in fossil fuels and investing in renewable energy — the sooner we can end the era of fossil fuels.
