Corporate Attacks to Silence Dissent:
SLAPP Suits and Other Tactics
Presented in partnership with Lush Cosmetics
TODAY (May 28) at 5pm ET
The 2024 election may be the most critical in history for our ability to avoid climate catastrophe. Our movements must understand how the corporate tactics to silence dissent undermine our democracy. Despite the chilling effect that results from the violence and legal attacks carried out by corporate interests in the U.S. and beyond, essential advocacy from land and water defenders and progressive activists continues. The global escalation of violent attacks and criminalization pose a serious threat to democracies and systemic change. Peaceful protest and dissent have long been instrumental to global victories for civil rights, climate, and environmental justice.
Moderated by: Seth Laxman (Lush Cosmetics)
Panelists: Rolf Skar (Greenpeace USA), Annabel Lee McShane Bickford (Global Citizen), David McKean (International Corporate Responsibility Roundtable), Kamau Franklin (Community Movement Builders)
