Subject: They're trying to stop our progress

John–

Last fall, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) issued a rule that would expand background checks to more gun sales.

Throughout the 90-day public comment period, our movement drove more than 230,000 comments in support of this life-saving policy—and we outnumbered the gun lobby's opposition.

But now, gun extremists in Congress are threatening to attack this rule and stop our progress. Send your message now to let your lawmakers know you're counting on them to protect this critical rule.

ATF's rule makes clear that unlicensed gun sellers who seek to sell guns—whether at a gun show or online—must become licensed dealers and, in turn, run background checks.

For decades, unlicensed sellers have been able to sell guns at gun shows and online without background checks. These sellers are a top source of guns for people who can't pass a background check and for gun traffickers.

And when guns fall into the hands of people who shouldn't have them, we pay the cost with our lives.

Tell Congress to defend ATF's new rule against these attacks and protect public safety.

Thanks for taking action,
