3 Good Things That Happened This Month
|
|
Dear John,
We have a lot to celebrate this month!
If you're anything like me, the idea of waking up at dawn to run 13.1 miles (or 26.2 miles) is daunting! Nonetheless, countless impressively athletic No Kid Hungry supporters across the country have signed up to participate in both half marathons and full marathons in the upcoming months. These inspiring runners are dedicating their time to fundraising for the 1 in 5 kids facing hunger across the country.

Summer EBT in Maryland
In addition to this exciting news, earlier this month — May 9 — Governor Wes Moore of Maryland signed a bill that includes $9 million in summer EBT funding beginning this year. This will provide grocery benefits for over 500,000 kids statewide. Join us in celebrating this big win for Maryland kids, and read more about it here.

Food Justice For All
Finally, please join us in celebrating the work of one of No Kid Hungry's City Innovation Fellows, Mark Araujo. In collaboration with both the Mayor's Office of Food Justice and the Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics in Boston, Mark has developed a collaborative design guide for food pantries. Any food pantry operators across the country can use the guide to aid in community engagement and serving their clients. Check out the guide here.
