Dear  SPUC supporter,

As you know, a General Election has been called for 4 July 2024.

The threat of abortion being decriminalised was averted in this Parliament but will soon return in the next. We also expect a big push to legalise assisted suicide. It is therefore vital that pro-life people use their vote to elect pro-life MPs.

We will be updating you soon on how to contact your Parliamentary candidates.

But there’s a very important campaign action you can take NOW. The various parties will be releasing their manifestoes in the coming days and weeks. Manifestoes contain pledges on what a party intends to do if they get into Government. Manifesto pledges are taken very seriously, so it is vitally important that these threats to life are not included in party manifestoes.

Please contact your MP now asking them to make it clear to their party leadership that abortion decriminalisation and assisted suicide should NOT be included in manifestoes. There’s only a few days before Parliament is officially dissolved on Thursday, and MPs cease to be MPs, so please email NOW.

Another very important action to take now is to ensure that you are registered to vote. If you moved house recently, or turned 18 since there was last an election, you need to register to vote.

Who can vote?

To vote in the 2024 General Election you must be at least 18 years old on Thursday 4 July, be a British citizen – or qualifying Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland – and be on the electoral register.

How do I register to vote?

Registering to vote will take about five minutes.

You can register online. To register, you need your national insurance number or passport number and your address.
When is the deadline to register to vote in the 2024 UK General Election?

You can register to vote in the 2024 General Election until Tuesday 18 June at 11.59pm.

What if I’m going to be away from home on 4 July?

If you will be unable to vote in person on 4 July, you can register for a postal vote. You will need to register to vote by 5pm on Wednesday 19 June to vote by post in the 2024 General Election. This can be done online or by a paper form.

P.S. Running a full-scale election campaign at very short notice is throwing up a lot of costs. If you are able to contribute to help us meet these costs, please donate here:
