Texas GOP Passes New Rule Blocking Democrat Influence in Primaries
Abraham George Elected to Lead Texas GOP
- The Republican Party of Texas has chosen a new leader. Delegates to the party’s convention selected former Collin County GOP Chairman Abraham George. He secured the nomination after several rounds of voting.
- Former chairman Matt Rinaldi announced last fall he would not seek re-election, eventually endorsing George out of a multi-candidate field. George received 54 percent of the vote during the GOP biennial convention.
- “I am humbled and honored to have received the support of thousands of my fellow Republicans and be elected as chairman of the Republican Party of Texas,” said Abraham George. “I look forward to uniting with every single Republican in our state and working towards our shared objective: electing Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and every other Republican on the ballot this November.”
- Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation Entertainment Inc. and its subsidiary, Ticketmaster, for thwarting competition within the live entertainment industry through monopolization. Will Biagini has the story.
Live Entertainment Inc. was formed in 2010 through the merger of two major ticketing companies, leading to its domination of ticket sales, advertising, and concert production. - More than half of the states in the union have joined the Texas lawsuit, asserting that Ticketmaster took advantage of concert-goers through price hikes, exorbitant fees, and reduced choices.
Dallas ISD Sought Advice From LGBT Clinic
- Newly revealed documents show that the Dallas Independent School District sought the advice of a sexual identities clinic on how to help gender-confused students “transition.” Emily Medeiros reports on the findings of a recent investigation conducted by The Dallas Express.
- The investigation found internal communications between Dallas ISD’s coordinator of support services for LGBTQ youth, Mahoganie Gaston, and the transgender education and advocacy associate for the Resource Center. The Resource Center is a Dallas-based LGBT clinic that offers cross-sex hormones and reference letters for gender-mutilative surgeries.
- Earlier this year, it was reported that Dallas ISD published a resource guide advising children on how to change genders. The document has since been locked and is only available by request.
