John,

As we observe Memorial Day this year, I ask that we take a moment to reflect on the brave American heroes who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

We’ve lost countless brave men and women in battle on our soil and overseas, and their memories are a blessing to each and every one of us.

Memorial Day is a solemn occasion to honor and mourn the men and women of our Armed Forces who paid the ultimate price to defend the values and freedoms we cherish as Americans.

The men and women of our Armed Forces who have given their lives for our country are heroes. We call them that not only because of their final ultimate sacrifice but because of the tremendous lives that they lived.

There are no words adequate enough to express our sincere gratitude, respect, and deepest appreciation to all those who have sacrificed their lives for our country.

Although we can never adequately express our gratitude for those who have fallen in service to our nation, we must always ensure that their memory lives on.

Please join me in taking time today to reflect on and remember the selfless sacrifice and courage of all service members who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation and the values we hold dear.

Thank you,

Governor Larry Hogan
