Today, we pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our nation. From the brave souls who fought in the American Revolution to the courageous service members who defend our freedoms today, we owe a debt of gratitude that can never be fully repaid.

Memorial Day is not only a solemn reminder of the individual sacrifices Americans have made to uphold our democracy but also a moment to recognize and mourn the brave people who died in defense of it.

As we gather with loved ones this Memorial Day weekend — at a time of great division in our country — we must all come together to support one another and honor the values for which our heroes gave their lives.
