Of every day on the calendar, Memorial Day is the one we have to hold sacred.

John,

There are a lot of the holidays on the calendar. I've worked through a lot of them; there's a number I don't take too seriously.

But of every day on the calendar, Memorial Day is the one we have to hold sacred. Because since 1775 over 1.3 million Americans have given their lives in military service.

I've met servicemen on the campaign trail from the Second World War, Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq. We talk about a lot. But the one constant: the importance of remembering, of not letting the lessons taught by the sacrifices of these brave Americans go to waste.

We must remember that sacrifice. We owe it to each and every one of those 1.3 million men and women.

Yours,

Dan Osborn
