Reflecting on the bravery and selflessness of our fallen heroes this Memorial Day

May 27, 2024

Dear John,

On this last Monday of May, we honor, as all good Americans, the men and women who gave their lives in the service of our freedom.

It is also a time where many gather with family, friends, and an abundance of hot dogs and hamburgers, to mark the beginning of summer. Congenial fellowship is the byproduct, or rather blessing, that we inherit thanks to the sacrifice of those who fell while protecting our country.

And not simply our country, this beautiful, vast expanse blessed by the Lord in abundance and hardy people. But the idea of our country and the inviolability of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

It is to the protection and promotion of these ideas—made real through patriotic action—that the Claremont Institute is dedicated.

It is how we honor our ancestors. And we measure this not simply by the observance of one day, but by enduring Memorial Days, Weeks, Years, and Centuries.

We thank you for your support, and for your dedication—dearly bought and dearly defended—to the American Way of Life.
