Remembering those who gave all and their families this Memorial Day.

"Ladies and Gentlemen: I appear to say but a word. This extraordinary war in which we are engaged falls heavily upon all classes of people, but the most heavily upon the soldier. For it has been said, all that a man hath will he give for his life; and while all contribute of their substance the soldier puts his life at stake, and often yields it up in his country's cause. The highest merit, then is due to the soldier."

– Abraham Lincoln

The freedom bought at such a precious price must be safeguarded at all costs.

Institute for Energy Research (5/25/24) blog: "It’s thumbs up for all modes of travel this Memorial Day weekend. 'Nearly 44 million travelers leaving town for the unofficial start of summer,' the American Automobile Association reports. One million more Americans are traveling fifty miles or more this weekend than did five years ago, AAA calculates, which 'signals a very busy summer travel season ahead...'  Hitting the open road is part of Americana, and never more so than during Memorial Day weekend. It erases distance and brings people together in the great outdoors.  The travel boom is a reminder to politicians that petroleum abundance is a quality-of-life issue, and that fuel affordability and availability matter to everyday people. Free-market entrepreneurship is being hampered by literally hundreds of government interventions that reduce supply and increase cost. Consequently, average motor fuel prices today of $3.60 per gallon are one-third higher than in 2016 and 2020 of $2.25 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline."
