News from Representative Allred

Dear Friend,

This Memorial Day, I am thinking of all the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. We humbly thank the families of our fallen veterans and come together to honor their memory.

I’ve made it a priority to serve and support veterans, service members and military families since my first day in Congress. I’ve worked with both parties to open the Garland VA Medical Center and expand the Dallas VA to construct a Long Term Care Spinal Cord Injury Center. Both facilities will serve North Texas veterans for generations to come.

Supporting veterans includes making sure they are set up for success as they transition back to civilian life. However, I’ve heard from so many veterans who haven’t taken advantage of the benefits they’ve earned, simply because they are not aware of what’s available. That’s why, this week, I introduced the bipartisan Informing Veterans on Education for Transition Servicemembers (VETS) Act. My bill would ensure that the VA better informs veterans about the various benefits available to them, helping expand access to disability assistance, job training, and educational opportunities.

On Memorial Day and every day, I will honor those who’ve died for our country by passing legislation that ensures our veterans, troops and their families have the support, services and opportunities they’ve earned.

My office also offers services to veterans including assisting with VA issues. If you or a veteran you know needs help, give my Richardson office a call (972) 972-7949.

From my family to yours, we hope you have a meaningful Memorial Day.

Sincerely,
