On this Memorial Day, we honor and mourn those brave U.S. military personnel who died defending our fundamental freedoms.
We are forever indebted to the fallen service members from South Carolina and across the nation who made the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow Americans. |

Our campaign just earned the endorsement of the nation's largest federal employee union, the American Federation of Government Employees! AFGE represents 750,000 workers spread across 900 local unions, including nurses, park rangers, TSA agents, and more. Michael stands with all of them — just like he stands with the working families of SC-01. |
Kenneth Canty — who has worked on some of the biggest infrastructure projects along the Eastern Seaboard — also announced his support for our campaign!
Kenneth and Michael agree on the importance of investing in the Lowcountry's roads and bridges, and Michael is grateful to have earned his endorsement in the race for SC-01. |
In other news, the Summerville Journal Scene covered our campaign for Congress — including Michael's plan to energize Lowcountry Democrats, persuade independent-minded Republicans, and assemble the coalition needed to win in November. |
Michael also agreed to participate in a Democratic primary debate hosted by WCBD. He's excited to dive into the issues that matter most to the working families of SC-01! |
Finally, Michael weighed in on the Supreme Court's ruling in the SC-01 racial gerrymandering case. We have a plan to win in November, no matter the playing field, and we're more confident than ever about our footing in the fight for this swing district. |

Thanks to Judy Hines for hosting our campaign at her home in Charleston's Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community!
In Congress, Michael will fight to stop extreme Republicans from raising the retirement age, slashing your benefits, and cutting Social Security and Medicare. |
The James Island-Folly Beach Democrats had a terrific turnout at their candidate forum. Sheriff Kristin Graziano's closing comments were spot on: Every single one of us will need to show up to help flip SC-01 in November!
Michael participated in the latest installment of the Post and Courier's "Pints & Politics" series, sponsored by AARP South Carolina.
From safeguarding reproductive freedom to fostering a more inclusive economy, he's ready to tackle the issues facing working families in SC-01. |
Our team had a great time over the weekend at the Original Gullah Festival in Beaufort!
Thanks to the organizers for allowing Michael to share the stage with so many beloved leaders from our community. We enjoyed meeting the talented vendors — and tasting so much amazing Gullah cuisine! |
Michael shared his hopeful vision for the future of SC-01 at the May meeting of the Goose Creek NAACP.
As a child, Michael's grandfather gave him the special gift of a lifetime membership to the NAACP — and Michael recently got to do the same for his 10-month-old granddaughter, Sasha! |
On Sunday afternoon, Michael met with supporters on Johns Island, where they discussed some of the most pressing problems for this coastal community.
Thanks to Elizabeth Coaxum for hosting our campaign in your home, and to former Charleston County Council Member Anna Johnson for helping organize this event! |
There's so much work to do, and we're only just getting started. Join us in our fight to flip this swing district. Together, we're going to build a brighter future for South Carolina. |
