Hey John -
The AYD Executive Board continues to work diligently to make sure that our members can stay engaged in the political process during this time. This past week we held an informative virtual town hall with Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia Chair Praveen Meyyan about the impact of COVID-19 on Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. We also held a successful first virtual happy hour, featuring a game room, museum tour, and a wine and dine night!
In addition, we have launched an AYD Community Fund for those in need in our community. We are almost halfway to our goal of $1000, are you able to give $5 or $10 today to help us hit our goal? Every bit counts and we hope that you can contribute whatever you can afford.

The Arlington Young Dems have established a community fund which aims to assist local organizations on the front lines of COVID-19. While many of us may be able to work from home, there are a number of community members who do not have such a luxury. Over the next month, we aim to raise $1,000 within our community in order to support multiple organizations, from fighting the financial impact of this disease to increasing medical supplies for healthcare workers.
The AYD Community Fund will support:
All donations will be divided equally among the four recipients.
We’ve rolled out a section on the AYD website dedicated to giving the most up to date information on COVID-19 resources for the community. We’re frequently updating guidelines from the Center for Disease Control, pulling in resources from the county government, and adding in new community service opportunities as we continue to build a coalition for good. Here are some of the resources on our site:
