Hi john,

Last month, I wrote an op-ed in the New York Times about the Comstock Act — a 150-year-old law that the GOP is scheming to use to limit reproductive freedom for women nationwide — and how I’m planning to fight back against its implementation.

You can read the piece here.

The Comstock Act is an absurd, outdated piece of legislation that has not been broadly enforced for nearly a century.

But Trump and his right-wing policy advisors are planning to use this legislation to make it illegal to send medication abortion and other tools to help with reproductive health care through the mail. And recently, Trump signaled a willingness to ban contraception too.

This would make it significantly harder for women to access reproductive care — even in states where abortion is legal.

As I wrote in my op-ed, “We can’t let anyone — not the Supreme Court, not Donald Trump and certainly not a random busybody from the 19th century — take away Americans’ right to access medication abortion. We must protect the ability of doctors, pharmacies and patients to receive in the mail the supplies they need to exercise their right to reproductive care.”

Please support my work to defend reproductive freedom in the U.S. Senate. I’m leading the charge to repeal the Comstock Act, and I’m supporting pro-choice candidates across the country. Chip in to help today >>
