What does Memorial Day mean to you?

I know many Americans will spend this weekend enjoying the unofficial start to summer with barbecues, beach trips and other fun-filled celebrations. But for a lot of families in the military community, Memorial Day is a somber occasion.

We remember all who have sacrificed their lives in service of our country, from the Revolutionary War to World War II, to Afghanistan and Iraq, to today.

For families with deployed service members, it’s a day of even greater worry as we hope and pray for our loved ones’ safe return. For those currently on active duty, there’s an extra heaviness to this day.

That’s why, as we honor the military heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice, I’m asking you to join the USO in showing your support for those who continue to risk their lives for our country. Will you please sign the card now to thank them for their courageous service?

It is so important to honor the fallen and think of their families, who will always be missing a piece of their heart. For those who continue to serve, knowing that Americans understand and appreciate their service keeps them going in their toughest moments.

So please, whether you're remembering a loved one who made the ultimate sacrifice or just feeling grateful for all those protecting our freedoms right now, take just a moment to honor our heroes by signing our Memorial Day card before midnight tomorrow:

Sign our Memorial Day card now to be one of the 100,000 patriotic Americans we need to let our heroes know how much people back home value their service and sacrifice.
