Happy Sunday, team. I hope you’re enjoying the holiday weekend.
I wanted to take a moment to reflect on Louisiana’s big win from earlier this month.
If you haven’t heard, the Supreme Court made a historic decision, upholding Louisiana's new congressional map that includes two majority-Black districts.
Now, Louisianans will vote using a more representative map in the upcoming November elections. But this victory is not just important for Louisiana, it's a win for our entire democracy.
Across the country, Republicans are trying to push forward maps that likely violate the Voting Rights Act.
It’s a shady tactic they’ve relied on for decades to give themselves an edge in the competition by taking voting power away from Black and brown Americans.
When Republican lawmakers tried doing this in Alabama, a Groundwork target state, we successfully fought back and won a fairer map for Black Alabamians — a victory made possible thanks to this grassroots team.
You see, when these fights are ongoing, our partners on the ground are on the frontlines defending our fundamental rights, and they need resources to keep their operations running.
When you pitch in $10, or any amount, your donation directly fuels the work happening at the local level in so-called “red states” like Louisiana and Alabama. It goes a long way in helping pursue progress for these states and for our country as a whole.
That’s why I’m hoping you’ll take a moment to support Groundwork Project PAC today. You can donate by clicking here or by using the buttons below:
