Hi John, Were you at the Oregon March for Life last weekend? Pro-life advocates from all across Oregon joined us outside the State Capitol in Salem. The sun was out, spirits were high, and everyone was ready to make a joyful noise to celebrate life and promote protections for our state’s most vulnerable. “It may seem like we have a long road ahead of us here in Oregon, but everywhere you look you can find meaningful change happening today,” OSU Pro-Life Student Alliance leader Rebecca Lang said during her speech at the rally. We had an incredible speaker line-up this year, and individual pro-life advocates shared some of their own thoughts with us as they participated in the March. Katie Hieb, wife of Republican state Rep. James Heib, shared that she has personally stopped four abortions just by engaging in dialogue with mothers and urging them to choose life. “I always think, if we could just reach one, that is worth it all,” Keizer resident Lenore Calkins told us. “Never be discouraged or dismayed.” And hope can be found in even the most desperate of circumstances. Glorify Project co-founder Billie Torres told us she became pregnant through rape when she was just 21. She considered giving her child up for adoption but ultimately chose to step out in faith and raise him herself. Her son is now 25 years old, and Billie says he’s her best friend. John, if you were among the crowd on Saturday, thank you for showing up for life! And if you couldn’t make it, we hope to see you there next year! Thank you for your commitment to peaceful and compassionate outreach for Oregon’s most vulnerable. Because everyone deserves an advocate, Lois Anderson P.S. There are so many ways to get involved! Please join us for Celebrate Life Month in June. Throughout each themed week, we’ll help you promote a culture of life in your community in fun and easy ways.
