Challenge the government to support the NPT

Please note: the CND national office is temporarily closed as a precaution due to the coronavirus. Here's how ([link removed]) to contact us during this period.
Dear Friend,

CND is still challenging the government to live up to its disarmament obligations under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). You can help by making a donation today. ([link removed])

It's 50 years since the NPT - which the UK signed - came into force. This means the UK has a 50-year old promise to live up to: a promise to disarm its nuclear weapons. It's high time the government lived up to that promise and scrapped the UK's nuclear weapons for good.

The current public health crisis brings into stark relief just how morally wrong it is for this country to be spending hundreds of £billions on nuclear weapons. This is money that we could be spending on healthcare instead, meaning our NHS would now be better placed to face threats such as the Coronavirus pandemic.

CND is demanding that the government gets its priorities in order and takes concrete steps to live up to its commitments under the NPT by disarming its nuclear arsenal. Please help by making a donation if you can. ([link removed])

We still need to raise around £10,000 to continue campaigning in support of the NPT. The total raised could help us brief UK parliamentarians on the NPT, engage with politicians, diplomats and representatives of the international peace movement on disarmament, and play a leading role in shaping political and civil society debate on nuclear weapons.

Your donation could help generate real progress towards the UK giving up its nuclear weapons. These resources could then be used to save lives rather than take them.

A world without nuclear weapons is possible. I would be so grateful for your support in helping achieve this goal. Thank you.

In peace,
Kate Hudson
General Secretary

P.S. As mentioned, the CND office is now closed due to Coronavirus. We would request that if at all possible you make your donation online ([link removed]) . Alternatively, if you'd prefer to donate by phone please call 07508 778 357. We urge you not to hold back on donating as we cannot afford to let CND be damaged financially as a result of the public health crisis. Thank you.
