Happy Easter! Christ is risen!

As the pandemic continues it feels as though Good Friday is never going to end. But the reality is that it is Easter Sunday. Christ has conquered death and given us immortality. We are made for eternity. 

This is why we rejoice: sin has been redeemed and we have been saved at a high price - nothing less than God himself offered up to pay our debt. 

We have been released from the chains of mediocrity, sadness, hopelessness, fear, hunger, suffering and even death - and are free!

We do not deny that times are difficult, most of us spent Lent locked up at home, unable to physically participate in any of the services, and we cannot escape the global rolling 24/7 news coverage, informing us of the grim statistics and mounting death toll. It is also true that the economic crisis resulting from the coronavirus is going to be brutal and difficult to recover from but it is also true that our Hope transcends these current harsh realities. 

Because Christ has risen and has opened for us the doors of Paradise; a true homeland for you and for me. A place without coronavirus but also without hatred, bitterness, enmities or unpaid debts. A homeland of joy, good humor, tenderness, and happiness. In short, a homeland of Love, for which we are created. To Love and be fully happy. 

Do not let the difficulties of these present times rob you of that Joy. Remember that Christ is stronger than death and of course the coronavirus. It’s often difficult to comprehend why some of these things happen, but if they do, it is because God allows it and it will be for our own good, even if we cannot understand why.

So congratulations! Happy Easter! Enjoy this Easter Sunday however you manage to spend it.
