AOC tells MSNBC's Chris Hayes the Senate must urgently investigate Supreme
Court Justice Samuel Alito after The New York Times reported flags
associated with Trump and the Jan 6 insurrectionists flying in front of
Alito's houses:

"We are seeing a fundamental challenge to our democracy. Samuel Alito has
identified himself with the same people who raided the Capitol on January
6.

"In the Senate, we have gavels. There should be subpoenas going out, there
should be active investigations that are happening.

"When Democrats have power, we have to use it…every single minute
matters."

Durbin: Investigate whether Justice Alito's flag-flying shows that his
"impartiality might reasonably be questioned" or that he "has a personal
bias or prejudice" that demands his recusal from cases involving Trump and
Jan 6.

John, this Supreme Court was already facing a legitimacy crisis
even before two bombshell reports by The New York Times showed that an
upside-down American flag flew in front of Alito's Virginia home days
before President Biden took office and, two years later, another flag
associated with support for the insurrection flew outside Alito's New
Jersey beach house.

Federal law says justices must recuse themselves from any case "in which
their impartiality might reasonably be questioned" or "where they have a
personal bias or prejudice." But Alito has refused to do this for two big
cases related to Trump and Jan 6. One of those cases could give Trump
complete immunity from prosecution. 

The head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Dick Durbin, told reporters
early this week that he won't investigate Alito because he "doesn’t think
there’s much to be gained." The Supreme Court could hand-pick the next
president!

AOC disagrees and says "Every single minute matters!"

investigate because this Supreme Court, including Justice Alito, could
decide the 2024 election!
