Dairy farms create a new home for "bird flu." Recent tests of dairy milk have uncovered H5N1, a deadly type of highly pathogenic avian influenza that can cause illness in humans and other animals. Multiple cases of this virus have been confirmed at farms across the country.

These outbreaks worsen the terrible suffering of cows—and increase the risk of new epidemics and pandemics that affect humans. In fact, a second dairy farm worker, this time in Michigan, just tested positive for bird flu transmitted by infected cows.

Whether you consume dairy or not, we could all be impacted by another zoonotic disease outbreak. The IAA (Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act) would force corporations to take responsibility for their actions and address the pandemic risks created by the system they built.

John, tell congress that we must act swiftly to prevent another public health crisis.

The IAA is critical legislation that would reduce suffering for farmed animals, increase environmental responsibility, and protect human health. Please urge your members of Congress to put their voices behind the IAA and ensure its provisions are included in the upcoming Farm Bill.
