This week, the House voted on legislation to prevent illegal aliens from voting in elections. In late 2023, the D.C. Council voted to allow noncitizens to vote in D.C. elections. This action could have a ripple effect on large cities across the country, disenfranchising American citizens and allowing illegal aliens to vote in elections. So, both Republicans and Democrats in the House voted to overturn the D.C. Council's action.
The House also voted on the CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act. Central bank digital currency (CBDC) is a digital currency issued and regulated by a government and recorded on a digital ledger controlled by that government. This gives the government the ability to monitor any transaction and use the currency as a financial weapon to stifle political adversity. For example, the Chinese Communist Party issued CBDC that they track, and they use that data to punish citizens under a social credit system. The Biden Administration has indicated they're interested in issuing CBDC. The CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act that I supported blocks the Federal Reserve from directly or indirectly issuing CBDC, prevents the Federal Reserve from using CBDC to implement monetary policy, and requires Congress to authorize the issuance of any CBDC. This legislation will protect Americans’ financial privacy and freedom from government control.
