Dear Friend,
After over two years of advocacy from SAM and our allies, yesterday the House Agriculture Committee voted to advance the Farm Bill with an amendment closing the Delta-8 THC loophole. This amendment will ban all hemp intoxicants!
We are proud to have played a central role in securing this major victory for public health, safety, and kids across our country. Congresswoman Mary Miller (IL-15), who introduced the amendment, only knew about the Delta-8 THC loophole because our government affairs team met with her personally. After walking her through the issue and asking for her leadership, she introduced the amendment that bans Delta-8 THC and other hemp intoxicants.
Our small but mighty SAM team went up against the $291 million hemp industry and won. The fight isn't over yet, though. We need to ensure that this amendment stays in the final Farm Bill package as it makes its way to the full House and the Senate.
Please help us continue to fight against Delta-8 THC by contributing today!
This victory was only possible thanks to your hard work and support. Whether through grassroots letter writing campaigns, calls to your member of Congress, advocacy on Capitol Hill, sharing your stories on social media, or giving to our work, you helped secure the passage of the Miller amendment.
Fighting against the Delta-8 THC is an issue of life and death: a four-year-old child in Virginia died after overdosing on Delta-8 THC gummies.
If you want to see Delta-8 banned nationwide, please consider a donation so that SAM can continue its advocacy efforts.
Thank you, again, for your steadfast support and advocacy. We should all celebrate this victory and continue to fight for the next generation by fighting against Delta-8 THC.
