I ran for Congress back in 2014 because I saw the consequences of failed leadership in Washington when I served in Iraq—and I wanted to prevent that from happening again.

Now, my Serve America team is working overtime to elect a new generation of leaders with proven service backgrounds—from the classroom to the Marine Corps. We’ve helped elect 32 members of Congress since 2018. When we had to flip the House to defend our country from Donald Trump, our candidates made up more than half of the Democratic wins. Since then, they’ve been on the frontlines of fighting the MAGA agenda and proving that Democrats are the party of patriotism.

The 6th District used to be one that Democrats poured money into just to eke out a win. Since 2014, not only have we locked it down as solidly blue, we’re raising money and volunteers for other tough Democratic races across the nation.

I’m committed to recruiting and supporting veteran candidates and expanding veteran engagement within our party here at home, too. By passing my proposal to codify veteran add-on delegates into the MassDems charter, we’re giving veterans the seat at the table they’ve earned in our party.

Democrats should be the first choice for veterans looking to get involved in politics. It's past time we as Democrats take back patriotism from the extremists in the GOP.
