You may have seen by now that Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats tried to ram through their terrible border bill again this week.
And again, I opposed it.
I was one of the first Republican Senators to oppose the bill when it was released three months ago. Here a few of my reasons:
—> It would hand Alejandro Mayorkas the power to grant asylum claims and American citizenship without court review.
—> It would codify catch and release.
—> It would hand out 50,000 extra green cards for no reason.
In other words, it wouldn’t secure our border. It would make the crisis worse.
Democrats aren’t serious about border security. If they were, they’d be telling Joe Biden to roll back the 90+ executive orders he issued that flung open the gates.
Tom Cotton was born and raised on his family’s cattle farm in Arkansas, served as an Army infantry officer in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is fighting for working Americans in the U.S. Senate.
The tragic attacks of September 11, 2001 occurred during Tom’s final year of law school and changed his life’s trajectory.
After clerking on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and spending a short time in private law practice, he joined the United States Army as an Infantry Officer, spending nearly five years on active duty.
Between his two combat tours he served as a platoon leader with the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery, the unit responsible for military honors funerals.
Tom’s military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Ranger Tab.
In the U.S. Senate, he’s fighting the tough battles for Arkansans and Americans, and delivering real results. He knows that only the strong can survive in a dangerous world, and he’s building a movement to make America strong again.
Senator Cotton was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
