Friend -- This week I saw a lot of photos of folks in Wisconsin waiting in long lines to vote. Milwaukee went from 180 polling locations down to just five. Many people, standing at a distance, had masks and gloves on. The images were troubling.
But this is the visual that puts it all into perspective. When people ask me how the breakdown of democracy in Wisconsin this week was possible, I show them this.
Even though Republicans won only 46% of the vote in 2018, their party holds 64% of seats in the Wisconsin state legislature. And with that majority, they refused to address concerns about voters going to the polls in-person, didn't work to change the date of the election legislatively, and then actively challenged the governor's executive order to delay the election in the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Gerrymandering is the reason representatives who did not win a majority of votes were able to leverage their power in a blatant act of voter suppression.
At the most basic level, gerrymandering is the reason voters had to choose between their health and their vote on Tuesday.
Elected officials that represent gerrymandered districts are willing to do almost anything to hold onto their ill-begotten power. Will you chip in to support AOTL's people-driven movement so we can end the broken practices that stem from map manipulation?
We appreciate your support in this fight,
