John, after years of reading the news about Donald Trump, very few things surprise me.
So I can’t say I was surprised when I read this headline:
The long and short of it is that Trump told some oil company CEOs to give his campaign $1 billion, and in exchange, he’ll cut the companies’ taxes, undo environmental regulations, and prevent new climate policies from passing during his second presidential administration.
John, there is no line Trump isn’t willing to cross to get back in power.
Before becoming president, he loved to boast about “the art of the deal” (though we now know how poorly some of those deals actually worked out for him).
He worked with the Russian government to sabotage Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016 and then tried to bully Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy into helping him cheat in the next election.
Now, as he courts far-right mega-donors for a second term, Trump is making deals with wealthy CEOs of oil companies. His quid pro quo style of running a campaign is dangerous and wrong. It should be — and probably is — unlawful as well. The fact he’s making these corrupt bargains with the fossil fuel executives who are destroying our climate makes it even worse.
I’m running for Senate to make sure Trump is held to account for these deals. Because if he makes it back to the White House, the people he will be serving will not be the American people — it will be Russian dictators, CEOs of oil companies, and members of the Trump family.
We need to protect our environment. Pass a Green New Deal, build a stronger, greener economy, and safeguard our planet for future generations.
If you support this work, please chip in a few dollars to my campaign so I can fight for our planet from the U.S. Senate and work to hold Trump to account for his shady dealings. Thank you in advance for anything you can give.
