May in the Hoosier State! |
Friends, We have quite a weekend ahead of us here in Indiana! The Hoosier state is about to light up with two huge events back-to-back, Racers and Pacers! Our own Indiana Pacers are bringing the Eastern Conference Finals back home this weekend. And just down the road, the legendary Indy 500 will be revving into action, where the fastest drivers battle it out for glory. We are lucky to be Hoosier sports fans!
While these sporting events are exciting and create a strong sense of Hoosier pride, let's also take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day weekend. Amidst the excitement, let's honor and reflect on the brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. It's important to pause and pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedom.
So as you enjoy the weekend's activities, stay safe, cherish the moments spent with loved ones, and remember the true meaning of this holiday. Thank you for your continued support and for all that you do. |

Indiana Leads the Pack in Decreasing Overdose Deaths 📉💊 |
Recently, Indiana received big news regarding the trends in overdose deaths. Provisional data for 2023 from the CDC shows a nearly 18% decrease in overdose deaths in Indiana, 2nd among all states for that year. To put that into perspective, overdose deaths in the United States have been an increasing and ongoing problem, especially over the last 4 years. From opioid addiction to fentanyl flowing across our southern border, this has been an issue that Indiana specifically has worked hard to combat. That’s why In 2017 Governor Eric Holcomb signed an executive order dedicating a new cabinet-level position in state government to reversing the trend on overdose deaths in Indiana. Since then Indiana has taken dramatic, thoughtful steps to address this issue.
Thanks to the hard work of Republicans in the General Assembly and Governor Eric Holcomb's all-hands-on-deck approach, Indiana is leading the charge in reducing overdose deaths.
What have Hoosier Republicans done to fix the problem? - Indiana 211

From the state to the local level, Republican leaders have worked non-stop to make sure 2023 is just the start of a downward trend in overdose deaths that continues for years. Since President Biden has taken office, lawlessness and an open southern border have led to unsafe neighborhoods and tragic loss of life due to overdoses. Despite challenges created from President Biden's policies, leadership from Indiana Republicans has the Hoosier state headed in the right direction. Where this is still much to do on this front, it is clear that Republican leadership has a plan and is committed to working hard to keep Hoosiers safe.
