NY Assembly Could Stall ‘Polluters Pay’ Bill For Second Year in a Row

The Climate Change Superfund Act would make the most prolific oil and gas producers that have business ties to New York pay for the total share of greenhouse gasses they emitted. The funds would be poured into infrastructure adaptation projects to protect the state from the effects of global warming.

Vermont's legislature recently passed a similar initiative. But New York's version now hangs with the State Assembly, which failed to move on the bill last year. Albany lawmakers have until June 6 before their session ends.
