VIDEO OF THE DAY: Fed-up anchor crushes Ted Cruz in brutal interview
CNN's Kaitlan Collins refused to let GOP Sen. Ted Cruz spin his usual, bad-faith bullshit despite his relentless attempts to justify his wholly unjustifiable complicity in Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Kudos to Collins for withstanding Cruz's onslaught of nonsense, but we are headed toward catastrophe in November and beyond with the Republican Party's outright refusal to accept the legitimacy of our own frickin' elections. Donald Trump tells Bronx rallygoers of his heroic...wardrobe struggles
The MAGA cult leader wandered off-script during his pep rally in the Bronx yesterday, and it was a doozy. "Some of the greatest days of my business career were the toughest times, but I enjoyed waking up every single morning and go to battle," the dithering, disgraced ex-president rambled. "A lot of people say to me today — the toughest business people, people that you know about — 'Could I ask you a question? How do you do it?' I say, 'Do what?' 'How do you get up in the morning and put your pants on? Why do you put the pants on?’ I'll explain it to you someday. 'How do you do it? How do you get up? How do you do it?'" Yes, Donald! How DO you do it? One leg at a time? Standing up? Lying down? Lowered into them with an industrial, gold-plated pulley system? Please tell us!

Winning an open Arizona seat will take back the House
Yassamin Ansari for Congress: Winning in Arizona means we get our majority back — and losing means that some of the most unhinged election-denying, democracy-hating Trumpers in the country will be headed to Washington. Yassamin Ansari is a fantastic candidate running for Congress in a crucial Arizona seat to make sure we deliver President Biden a new majority for his second term! Can you chip in to help keep Trump's most radical minions out of office?
Supreme Court guts equal protection, greenlights racial gerrymandering in awful ruling
Right on cue and by the familiar margin of 6-3, the radical right-wing high court just upheld a district map in South Carolina that was previously found by a lower court to be unconstitutional due to its racially gerrymandered boundaries. With insurrection enthusiast Samuel Alito writing the majority opinion, the far-right justices ruled in favor of a district map which was drawn by the GOP-controlled state legislature and conveniently moved 30,000 Black voters from the Palmetto State's 1st District to the 6th District, all but assuring permanent Republican control of the previously competitive swing district.

Russia rejects Trump’s wild claim he can free US journalist if he wins election
Turns out the serially indicted ex-president's preposterous claim that he — and only he! — can secure detained journalist Evan Gershkovich's freedom from Russia was flatly rejected by the Kremlin, because, well, it's total bullshit. Despite years of capitulating to and breathlessly fawning over Vladimir Putin, it appears Trump's powers of persuasion aren't very persuasive at all. Also, we thought members of the mainstream news media were "enemies of the people." Why the newfound change of heart? Couldn't possibly just be cheap campaign bluster and posturing, right? Right?

Tom Cotton is suddenly among the top candidates for Trump’s VP
The Christofascist senator from Arkansas has somehow found himself on the MAGA cult leader's short list of potential running mates, which should sound all manner of alarms for, well, anyone with a uterus, proponents of silly little concepts like democracy and equality, and everyone else who doesn't want to live in a nightmarish, Handmaid's Tale-esque hellscape. Top progressives blame AIPAC, outside money for defeats in Oregon
Two high-profile progressives in Congress suggested that Tuesday’s primary losses by like-minded Democrats in Oregon should be blamed more on money than the US House candidates’ messages. “We've always dealt with the fact that progressives are not fostered and don't take money from these big corporate lobbies,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told reporters Wednesday. “You get Big Pharma that gets involved, you get these corporate Wall Street lobbies that pour in money and you have AIPAC — which is a right-wing insurrectionist-supporting, pro-Netanyahu lobbying organization,” she added, referring to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Rep. Pramila Jayapal, whose older sister Susheela was defeated in a race for a solid Democratic seat that includes most of Portland, echoed Ocasio-Cortez's comments, joking, "Clearly, people are afraid of having another Jayapal in Congress."

Police sergeant tells CUNY protesters, "I support killing all you guys"
Sgt. Donald Girard with the City University of New York's Department of Public Safety casually told a crowd of pro-Palestine human rights protesters, "I support genocide. I support killing all you guys. How about that?" during a graduation ceremony. When one protester pointed out that Girard was a cop he promptly responded, "F*ck your mother!" Neat! Just another brave keeper of the peace keeping the peace and wearing his badge with honor. So. Many. Bad. Apples.
Senate Republicans kill their own border deal to suck up to Trump
A much-ballyhooed border bill painstakingly negotiated by Republicans and Democrats has died in the Senate (again) — with the help of lots of opposition from Republicans, including the bill’s main author. Why? To appease Donald Trump, of course. The GOP isn't serious about "securing the border," folks. They are, however, serious about using immigration as election fodder, ginning up hysteria, and playing on their base's distorted fears. No matter how much danger Republicans claim Americans are in from an unsecure southern border, they still would rather use it as a talking point against Democrats instead of actually doing something about it. Please remember in November.
At least 66 members of far-right group in rural Oregon standing for office
At least 66 members of an anti-government group founded by radical, right-wing militia man Ammon Bundy have attempted to win local positions of influence in the Republican party in Oregon, according to The Guardian. The move is part of a coordinated attempt to capture the local Republican party infrastructure, following a far-right strategy of “entryism” into more mainstream political bodies. The electoral fate of all 66 candidates is not yet clear, but any victory by these enemies of democracy is one win too many.
