Government Power Wanes

We have grown used to the federal government simply telling what is good and then enforcing it.  We seem to have forgotten that the whole point of this country was that we, the citizens are the ultimate arbiters.  But somewhere along the line we decided that the legislative process – wherein the laws that control us did not come from faceless agencies, but from a legislature, the members of which have to be elected frequently so that if they do something boneheaded, we can call them to account – was just too complicated.  And so the legislature punted much of its authority to agencies not in the legislative branch, but the executive, and now faceless, unaccountable agencies dictate to us from on high.  We have been calling such an arrangement “the administrative...
