Republican Governors Urge Biden Not To Sign WHO Pandemic TreatyGOP governors make a last-ditch effort to save us from the WHO.Republican governors from 24 states have stepped up to the plate in an effort to protect Americans from an unprecedented power grab that would give the World Health Organization (WHO) “unconstitutional powers” over the United States and its people. In a March 22 letter to President Joe Biden, the governors said they “stand united in opposition to two proposed instruments,” currently in the final stages of negotiations. According to the letter, the WHO is attempting to alter its existing International Health Regulations and is introducing a new “Pandemic Agreement” or “Treaty” that, if adopted by the U.S., will undermine national sovereignty and infringe upon state rights and constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. Taken together, the instruments give the WHO, a United Nations subsidiary, authority to declare health emergencies and control how member states respond to them. (In case you were wondering, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is a contributor to various United Nations agencies and programs and is one of the largest private donors of the WHO.) “The objective of these instruments is to empower the WHO, particularly its uncontrollable Director-General, with the authority to restrict the rights of U.S. citizens, including freedoms such as speech, privacy, travel, choice of medical care, and informed consent, thus violating our Constitution’s core principles,” the governors wrote. If Biden signs on to the agreement, the Director-General would essentially have unilateral authority to dictate the nation’s response to public health emergencies—overriding the design of our constitutional republic and elected officials. Furthermore, if signed, Americans may be forced to comply with medical mandates imposed by a global body of unelected elites who fund the WHO and would have no legal recourse—a saving grace that undermined COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other tyrannical initiatives during the pandemic. The governors expressed additional concerns over the WHO’s intent to establish a global surveillance infrastructure and requirements for members states to censor speech related to public health, “potentially facilitating the proliferation of biological weapons.” Arguably, any efforts of the WHO to do this would violate the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution as it relates to free speech. “As governors, we affirm that public health policy is a matter reserved for the states, not the federal government, and certainly not international bodies like the WHO. We are committed to resisting any attempts to transfer authority to the WHO over public policy affecting our citizens or any efforts by the WHO to assert such authority over them,” they wrote. Republican governors from the following states signed the letter: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming. The Pandemic Agreement voting session is scheduled for May 27 at the World Health Assembly. The WHO has “scaled back” some of its powers in hopes of finalizing a deal, although the document's essence remains. In its previous drafts, the WHO attempted to obtain powers over “all risks with the potential to impact public health,” which could include anything from environmental and climate issues to health “emergencies.” The latest draft proposal also deleted a provision that recognized the WHO as a guiding and coordinating authority of international public health response and said WHO recommendations are non-binding. So what could happen if Biden signs the WHO’s pandemic agreement? One possible scenario is that Biden signs on to the WHO treaty, the WHO declares a public health emergency over bird flu to usher in its surveillance initiatives and then crackdowns on free speech. States and the American people refuse to comply, so Biden declares martial law, and the UN brings in its troops to force citizens into compliance. Undoubtedly, this would all take place around the election, which gets cancelled. I mean, it’s not entirely far-fetched, is it? I can’t do it without you.
