John, I'm excited to share the latest from CRC with you:

  • Which union boss stands accused of corruption this time?
Edward Kelly, the number-two man in the International Association of Fire Fighters, is accusing president Harold Schaitberger of improperly taking over $1 million from the union's pension funds. CRC's Michael Watson looks at the allegation and the need for increased transparency in union finances here.
  • Could the coronavirus relief bill gut our election system?
Buried in the $2 trillion coronavirus relief bill is $400 million to encourage more early voting and expanded use of mail-in ballots in the 2020 elections. CRC's Hayden Ludwig looks into the many problems with voting by mail and notes the liberals' glee about the increased funding of voting by mail. Read his op-ed about the Left's election opportunism here.
  • What's behind the growing eco-Right?
During a National Federation webinar on March 24, young Republicans passed a climate change resolution that called for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The vote occurred under highly unusual circumstances. Eco-Right groups were also a prominent presence at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in February 2020, despite their non-conservative preference for big-government solutions. Things are getting even stranger, as Kevin Mooney reports here and here.
  • CRC supports a small change that promises big federal savings
CRC's Robert Stilson recently submitted a formal comment to the Office of Management and Budget in support of a proposed regulation that would let the federal government end grants that no longer serve their intended purposes. This small rule change would help ensure tax dollars are spent more effectively. To increase transparency, Stilson also urged the feds to post grant documents online. View his official comment here.

Goodbye, Bill Kristol

Bill Kristol is one of the foremost alleged "conservatives" to oppose the Trump presidency. Whatever Trump's faults, are they enough to justify Kristol's becoming a tool of the Left? Perhaps he flipped because Trump's brand of conservatism has left his failed ideas behind. CRC's Hayden Ludwig says good riddance, Bill Kristol, conservatives are better off without you.

Government Censoring Scheme

In this episode, a radical-left pressure group calls for the government to censor the government; labor union activists allege shenanigans in the fight to pick the next head of the United Auto Workers, now mired in multiple scandals; and Big Labor and its congressional allies take aim at one of the few things making the pandemic lockdowns tolerable: independent contract workers.
