Friend --

For many African Americans, Easter Sunday is one of the most important religious holidays of the year, as well as a time to connect with loved ones. Traditionally, it’s a day for Sunday best, with men and boys and their fresh cuts, little girls with pressed dresses and shiny shoes, and when women don their colorful ornate hats. Easter Sunday is truly a testament to the beauty and power of Black culture.

This year, many of us are reimagining ways to collectively worship. On Sunday, we will gather in front of our computers, smart TVs and smart phones to attend virtual church services.  Many of us will host dinners at home and via Zoom with our families.

This Sunday, Black families will pause to strengthen their faith and give thanks for their families during this global health crisis, that has disproportionately affected Black families and our communities.

This Easter Sunday, The Sip Hour, will host a ‘#BlackWomenLead #IStayHomeFor’ roll call to encourage our family, friends and neighbors to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19 by staying home.

Will you join us and activate your network?

It’s simple to add your voice in the following ways:

- Take a picture in your Sunday best or Easter hat, either as  a selfie or with your family. Then share who you are staying home for.
- Post a picture(s) of who you are staying home for.
- Do a combination post, and post your picture and a picture of who you are staying home for.
- Not dressed in your Sunday’s best or do not have a hat? That’s fine.  Post a picture in whatever you want and join in on the roll call to help keep your community safe and at home!

Sample Post:

Please make sure you use the hashtags in your post to join in and tag your family and friends to join the roll call on Sunday.
