Where we are, and where we're going

John,

It's been a challenging few years for LGBTQ+ equality – we've faced an unprecedented wave of legislative attacks, especially on transgender healthcare access, and extremists in state legislatures across the South have been relentless in their efforts to undermine our rights and equality.

Since 2021, an alarming number of destructive bills have been passed. As of this week, 25 states (up from zero just three years ago) have enacted bans on medically necessary healthcare for transgender youth.

Our guiding star is helping trans youth get the care they need after gender-affirming care bans, and your support has been invaluable to meeting the growing need as care bans have spread to 25 states. Today, we're grateful to announce that ALL donations up to $25,000 made before the end of June will be matched by a generous donor. If you're able, please chip in $20 to support the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project today to help trans kids get the care they deserve. ([link removed])

With the invaluable support of donors like you, CSE's Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project has directly distributed more than $400,000 dollars in emergency grants to 800+ families to help them get to the care they need, covering travel expenses, medication costs, mental health expenses, and anything else they need as they travel extreme distances for care. We distribute grants of $500 twice a year to hundreds of families to offset their travel and care costs – but some of these journeys can cost thousands of dollars per trip.

We can't let anti-LGBTQ+ extremists stop a single queer person from living as their authentic selves, and getting the healthcare they need to thrive. Our community is resilient, and I find so much hope in the strength of these young people and their families who fight for the lives they want and deserve every day.

Today, please join us in kicking off this $25,000 match. Your donation to the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project will provide critical direct financial assistance to the families of trans youth. ([link removed])

I believe that one day these cruel healthcare bans will be a shameful footnote in history – but until then, we'll keep doing everything we can to get trans youth the care they need, and fight tooth and nail against anyone that tries to take this care away. Thank you for all that you do to support the Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project.

In joy, hope, and resilience,
Allison Scott
